Short story...Boy meets girl, they fall in love, and she follows him all over the world.
Long story...I guess you could call us high school sweethearts. We met our junior year of high school when Kevin walked into our pre-calculus class with his rosy red cheeks and his blond tipped hair. He had moved to Springfield (my hometown) to play for our junior hockey team and we immediately became friends. After our junior year, Kevin left to go back to Pittsburgh for the summer and I thought that would be the end of 'our story'. But I guess Kevin couldn't get me off his mind (or at least that is what I tell myself) so he came back to Springfield for our senior year. Then on a cold December night, we started dating.
We spent our college years living 4,000 miles apart and seeing each other a few weeks out of the year. Yet, we found a way to make our relationship work thanks to cards, letters, and our daily phone calls. After college, Kevin decided to play professionally and I decided to get a job teaching in Springfield. We did the long distance thing (again) for another three years until we finally decided we'd had enough. In June 2007, I moved to Anchorage, AK to be with him.
The crazy life of professional hockey has taken us to Fort Wayne, IN; Basingstoke, England; Sheffield, England; and Newcastle, England. And after 11 years of dating, we finally got married on May 29, 2011. We originally had planned to give up the hockey lifestyle, get a place of our own, and start our careers, but we just couldn't stay away. In the summer of 2011, Kevin was offered an amazing assistant coaching job in Italy and he stayed there for two years. We also welcomed a daughter to our family in 2013 while Kevin coached in Vipteno.
Fast forward to now and you will find us in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Kevin is the goalie coach for the USA Hockey's National Team Development Program. Besides working with the goalies on the current under-17 and under-18 national teams, he is the coordinator of the revolutionary Warren Strelow National Goaltending Mentor Program, which is designed to recruit, develop, and produce elite netminders in the United States.
